The Mogán municipality plans to invest almost €1.5m over three years to revamp El Perchel beach just to the east of Arguineguín town.
El Perchel is currently a mix of sand and pebbles and has no facilities, but this project will completely change the appearance of the beach and the area behind it.
The project includes a 420 square metre natural swimming pool, a promenade connecting El Perchel to the Arguineguín marina (also due to be modernised), a large wooden decking area for sunbathing, another sunbathing area made from local sand, a lookout point, children’s play park and an area for restaurants with outdoor terraces.
Mogán town hall expects the new facilities to attract 500,000 people (both local and tourists) per year.
The project has been submitted to the Las Palmas delegation of Spain’s Costas department which has to approve all seafront development in the Canary Islands and Spain.
