American music legend Bruce Springsteen rocked Gran Canaria and a 30,000 crowd with his Las Palmas concert on 15 May. On 30 June British rocker Sting will bring his brand of music to Santa Cruz, Tenerife. The Boss belted out all his big hits and some new songs from his new Wrecking Ball LP to delight his fans, Sting has promised to play all the classics from his career with The Police and as a solo artist. So where does a superstar choose to stay when preparing for a big concert? For Bruce and his backing group The E Street Band it was Maspalomas in the south of Gran Canaria. With technical crew and other staff the Springsteen party had 100 people and split themselves over two hotels. The Seaside Grand Hotel Residencia, and Palm Beach looked after the Americans, what better area to relax. Bruce Sprinsgteen even found time for a swim in Maspalomas. Maspalomas is a popular holiday spot but also a great place to live, Gran Canaria has good road links and all parts of the island are easily reached in little more than an hour. Sting is looking forward to sampling Tenerife as he enjoyed performing in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria on 13 July 2011 with the Orquesta Filarmonica de Gran Canaria as part of his Symphonicity tour. There’s no need to leave your love of music behind when you move to the Canary Islands.
